Post subject: Missing quality of image through browser plug-in Posted: Wed Mar 04, 2009 3:30 am |

Hello!
I got several ready to use .mov 3D files and tryed to view one of them via browser. Here is the result:
The source file for both windows is the same. As you can see, when it is viewed via quicktime, the quality is ok, but via browser plug-in, quality is really low. The size of this file iz around 8mg, obviously quality should be good. And here is html:
Code: <SCRIPT type="text/javascript" src="js/detectvr.js"></SCRIPT> <SCRIPT type="text/javascript"> viewerparameters("devalvr","autoplay","10","fullscreen","0","fullmode","0","zoom","1","filter","0"); viewerparameters("qt","autoplay","true","kioskmode","true"); writecode("zal4.mov","zal4.mov","","","","400","300"); </SCRIPT>
Anyone can tell me why there is such a difference? Am I doing something wrong? I tryed to put other .mov file via same html, and the quality was ok, so does it mean that my .mov file is corrupted? Any suggestions to solve the problem? Thx to all in advance.

Hi shamateur,
The plugin is loading only the preview images. Maybe you used any video codec to compress your MOV file. DevalVR only supports the Jpeg codec, so, you must use Jpeg to codify your MOV file (see the options in your program to create MOV files).
QuickTime reads all formats, but anyway, Apple recommends to use Jpeg codec to create QTVR files.
regards!

Thank you fiero for the reply.
I didn't create the .mov file, i received it already reday-to-use. As this is my first try to make such a thing, can you suggest me the software where i can modify .mov file? Thanks and all the best.

Maybe you can use Pano2VR to re-save the file, but I'm not sure.
If you only have one MOV file you can send me it, and I can see if this is exactly the problem. You can upload and send me a private message with the link and I will tell you.

fiero, i have 7 files, and many more to come. the main thing is to understand the principle. I have uploaded file here:
http://files.diol-design.ru/zal4.mov
you can take it and test it. Another problem is the size of the file, it is just too big, does the same software compressing filesize?
Many, many thanks in advance!

Sorry, this pano can't be opened with Pano2VR. I don't know what codec was used to compress the images into the MOV, but this is not a good codec for panoramic images.
The quality of this panorama is not very high, it should have a size of less than 1 MB if the Jpeg codec is used, but strangely it has a size of 8.3MB!
Maybe you can ask what program was used to create the MOV files.

Ok, i'will try to ask them, but.... isn't there a possibility to, at least, extract JPG file(s) from my ready MOV file, and to rebuild new MOV with the program you are suggesting.

The problem is that the images are not in Jpeg format, so it's not possible to extract them, at least with almost all common applications.

MOV file is made directly from 3D Max. I cant really tell you the codec or plug-in used to convert into MOV format, but.. can u suggest the right one for 3d Max?
