If we can login and write, do we have to do this step anyway?
or is it only to guarantee that you will get email-messages?

This is only for new users, because I saw a lot of SPAM messages in the forum last months. I always must remove these messages and this is a waste of time. So, now I decide to activate every new user in the forum, but they must send me a message before.

The activation allow to write messages in the forum. Old users are active already.

you can use a captcha method to block spam bots.

Hi Manny,

The forum has a built-in capcha and I made some changes in the register page to avoid bots. But unfortunately there was at least 2 spammers every week. This is not much, but this is annoying. Anyway the users never saw anything, because I must approve the first post of a new user. I spent time to delete the first post of these spammers.

I think the spammers are humans. Now I do not receive more spam
